Hello, I have just found this forum and decided to join.
I left Ripon over 50 years ago and came still remember some of the places in the city and the names of some of the families.
I was born in Ripon Hospital and lived in LowSkelgate and then moved to Lead Lane before moving to Australia. My mother was an Elsy and my father worked for Arther Yates and was a member of the RAFA Ripon Branch.

This may bring back some memories of older Riponians!

Hello, I am an ex Riponian too....who also now lives in Australia, near Perth in the South West.
I left Ripon in 1967 and have really enjoyed this website and looking at all the photo's.
Beautiful city. I have wonderful childhood memories of Ripon. I lived in Spring Bank and went to Holy Trinity Primary School.
People I knew were June and Benny Waine, my neighbours and their daughter Penny. Also Helen Hancock, whose father was a dentist in a nearby town.
Hello to Ripon and thank you again for your fabulous website.
Kind regards
Roxanne Dalton

Hello fellow Riponians. Unlike the previous posts I am still able to visit Ripon from time to time as I still have family living there. I now live in Cyprus but visit the UK every couple of years. There have been many changes over the years, some good, some bad. I was particularly put out when my old house in St Mary's Gate was demolished to make way for a CAR PARK!!
I have fond memories of the Milk Bar with its Juke Box in the mid fifties, saturday night dances at the Lawrence Ballroom and two cinemas which changed their programmes mid week and Sunday and had two shows nightly.
Happy Days
